Sometimes you just want good company.
Good company should feel easy.
I’m an Oregonian who spent 20 years living in San Francisco before moving back home to Portland about ten years ago. I love this city, but I also know firsthand that making new friends as an adult here isn’t always easy.
I work from home, and even though I’m lucky to have a wonderful circle of longtime friends, I’ve experienced that strange adult predicament of having people you love in your life but not necessarily having someone available when you want to check out an exhibit, wander through a bookstore, take a walk, try a new restaurant, or just get out of the house for a while.
That’s a big part of why I started Good Company Portland as a platonic companion service.
I love animals, food, cooking, art and music, but most of all I love meeting new people and having one-on-one conversations. I’m pretty adaptable, too. I’m equally happy catching a local band at a neighborhood venue, going all-in at a K-pop concert, or getting dressed up for an evening at the symphony.
I love learning about other cultures and getting to know people whose lives and experiences may be different from mine. I also really enjoy discovering what other people love, even when it’s something completely new to me.
I’m naturally curious about people and genuinely enjoy hearing their stories. I’m happy having a deep conversation over coffee, laughing about something completely ridiculous, browsing an art gallery together, or heading out to explore somewhere neither of us has been before.
Good Company is HAES-aligned and LGBTQ+ friendly. I want the people I spend time with to feel comfortable being themselves. You don’t need to look a certain way, move at a certain pace, be particularly outgoing, or have everything figured out. We can make an outing as active, relaxed, social or low-key as you’d like.
Mostly, I think there’s something really valuable about having someone who is genuinely happy to show up, spend time with you and share an experience.
How It Works
1. Tell me a little about yourself.
Start with a short online intake form. It’s just a way for me to get to know you a little before we meet.
2. We meet for coffee or tea.
If it seems like a good fit, we’ll meet in a public place for a complimentary coffee or tea for up to 45 minutes.
It gives us both a chance to meet, talk, and see whether we feel comfortable spending time together.
There’s no obligation to book afterward.
3. We make sure it feels like a fit.
If we both want to continue, I’ll send you the Client Services Agreement.
You’re welcome to take your time with it and review it with anyone you like before signing. Nothing is booked until after we’ve met.
4. You suggest something you’d like to do.
Once your agreement is complete, you can propose an outing whenever you like, via text or email.
I’ll confirm that I’m available and that the activity, timing, and location are a good fit.
5. I send the invoice.
Once the outing is approved, I’ll send you a Square invoice.
Your booking is confirmed when payment is received.
6. We go and have a nice time.
That’s the whole idea.
